The Practice Of Yoga Can Ward Off Insomnia

Sleep disorders has become a matter of millions of people today. Whereas, so that the body is always in condition of healthy and fit we are advised to sleep for 7-8 hours every night. To get good quality sleep, try practicing yoga.

Research conducted a team from Harvard Medical School concluded, and breathing exercises that focus attention as in the practice of yoga known to effectively keep sleep disorders such as insomnia.

The research was carried out to 20 people who practice yoga before bedtime for eight weeks. The participants were also asked to write in the diary trouble sleeping for two weeks before practicing yoga, and yoga for 8 weeks.

After practicing yoga, the participants claimed to have elevated the quality of sleep and total sleep time, compared before practicing yoga.

"Yoga is an effective therapy for reducing physical and psychological effects of insomnia," said Sat Bir Khalsa, Assistant Professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School.

In research published in the journal Menopause also mentioned the benefits of yoga to alleviate sleep disorders and menopausal symptoms. All participants in the study suffered from insomnia and not got hormone therapy.
