Intel: Ultrabook Is Still Our Main Hero

The annual Intel Developer Forum (IDF) in San Francisco back in 2012 so the Intel technologies to put forward their future.

In his keynote speech, Dadi Perlmutter, Intel's Chief Product Officer said that the Intel Core processor family 4th Generation has been designed from the outset to consider mobility.

Processor codenamed Haswell is, for example, have lower power consumption is much lower than previous generations. In particular, Perlmutter says testing, its needs can be 20 times lower.

Family members later promised to Haswell Ultrabook will have ability equivalent to or better than the Ivy Bridge. However, the power needs will be much better.

Prior to the IDF, the news has been circulating of processors with a Thermal Design Power (TDP) 10W. This is lower than the previous generation, which has a TDP 17W. The lower TDP, the more it is used in the product allows the device thin weighted lightly.

So, does this mean Intel is ready to plunge into the high mobility products such as tablet or smartphone? The answer is not as easy as that.

So far Intel processors has indeed been used on some smartphones and tablet products. However, despite existing, products that have not been able to sort of "mainstream". In mobility, the main flagship Intel platform still Ultrabook.

"Ultrabook our products still whiz," Perlmutter said in a question and answer session after his keynote speech.

One interesting thing, Ultrabook Intel showcased in this appellation is not merely a thin laptop. Many forms--also known by the term form factor--indicated. Starting from the type of convertible, can be changed the shape of the tablet into a laptop style; up to type, can be stripped of detachable docking ber-keyboard so that it becomes a separate unit.

When Core-based product to Generation-4 could appear on the market? Perlmutter didn't provide definite time. But he indicated that the products it will appear as usual ".

Generally, after the IDF, products with the latest generation of Intel processors were introduced to the public will be at the Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas (early years). Later, many products also commonly appear on the Computex in Taiwan (mid year).
